A Guide To Finding The Perfect Face Mask

A Guide To Finding The Perfect Face Mask - Three Ships

You can solve any scenario with a face mask. Bad day? Put a face mask on! Breakout? Face mask. Girls night in? Face masking and charcuterie. But how much do you know about the different types of face masks out there? There are hundreds of different brands, types and ingredients in the face mask market, and today we're here to tell you which ones you should be considering based on your specific skin type. 🤗

💡For Most Skin Types

Sheet Masks - One of the handy face masks that tons of women swear by. They are great at hydrating, adding nutritious liquid to your skin and locking it with paper to penetrate the benefits into the skin.

We’d recommend following up with your favourite serum or moisturizer immediately after use. What we do not recommend is - letting it sit on your face until it completely dries out as leaving it on your face for an excessive amount of time can dry your skin out. We also wouldn’t recommend sheet masks to people who are prone to breakouts, since the act of sealing could increase the skin temperature - which would then lead to bacteria production and acne.

Exfoliating Masks - Great for dull looking skin! It removes dead skin cells and removes dirt that exists in the deeper layers, leaving you with bright and glowing skin. For best results, use it after you use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and oil that you’ve collected throughout the day, and try to keep it to once a week. We recommend choosing a product that contains volcanic rock and minerals.

💡For normal / dry skin

Cream Masks - These babies are rich in oils, and penetrate deeply into your skin to replenish dry skin cells. They not only remove dead cells, but also lift your skin! They are great for use in dry climates - especially in the winter when your skin is in need of more hydration. It also enhances collagen production and repairs free radical damage.

💡For normal / oily skin

Clay Masks - Clay mud helps to remove impurities, reduces redness and unclog pores. If you are looking for an ultra-absorbing yet nourishing face mask, try our Detox Green Tea Antioxidant Clay Mask! We’d recommend taking off face masks with a warm wet towel rather than rubbing your skin, and letting it sit on your skin for a minute before wiping it off.

Rubber/peel off masks - aka the modelling mask. It leaves your skin bright, hydrated after use. It is made out of a gloppy substance that hardens and turns into a rubber texture once dried, which you can peel off in one go. Peel off masks also work great for ageing skin - as it helps to tighten the skin and stimulate blood flow, keeping your skin looking revitalized.

💡For dry and sensitive skin

Gel Masks - With its cooling, soothing, hydrating AND detoxifying effect - it has everything your skin needs - allowing for it to keep moisturized and nourished while pushing back the puffiness. They’re commonly used as eye masks as well.
